How Taylor Plumbing and Taylor Contractors collect, use, protect and handle your personal information.

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Taylor Plumbing and Taylor Contractors (together, "Taylor Plumbing", "we", "us" or "our") are New Zealand-owned providers of civil pipeline, drainage, plumbing and gasfitting services. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy applies to information collected through this website, our enquiry and quote forms, our advertising and lead forms, and our day-to-day business communications.

Who this policy applies to

This policy covers Taylor Plumbing and Taylor Contractors across all of our New Zealand branches and trading locations. It applies to visitors to this website, people who submit enquiry, quote or lead forms, customers, prospective customers, and anyone who contacts us by phone, email or messaging. It also applies to personal information we receive about you from advertising platforms when you respond to our advertising.

Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details — your name, phone number, email address, and postal or job-site address.
  • Enquiry and job details — the services you ask about, property address, site access details, and any other information you choose to provide in forms, emails or phone calls.
  • Quote and job records — quotes issued, jobs booked, work performed, products installed, warranties, and invoicing and payment records.
  • Communication records — messages, call records and correspondence between you and our team, including records of marketing consent and communication preferences.
  • Advertising lead information — details you submit in lead forms on advertising platforms, as described below.
  • Technical information — IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referral source, and analytics data collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Recruitment information — CVs and application details if you apply to work with us.

Where practical, we collect personal information directly from you. You do not have to provide it, but if you choose not to, we may not be able to provide quotes, bookings or our services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

How we collect information

We collect personal information:

  • when you complete a form on this website, including quote and enquiry forms;
  • when you call, text, email or message us;
  • when you submit a lead form on an advertising platform, such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Snapchat, TikTok, Google or similar platforms;
  • when we visit your property or job site and record job or site details;
  • when you engage us for services, including during quoting, scheduling, invoicing and after-service follow-up;
  • through cookies and analytics tools when you browse this website;
  • from third parties you have authorised to share your details with us, such as a property manager, builder or main contractor acting on your behalf.

Why we collect it

We collect personal information for purposes connected with our business, including:

  • responding to enquiries and providing quotes;
  • scheduling, delivering and completing plumbing, drainage, pipeline and gas services;
  • managing jobs, subcontractors, suppliers, warranties and safety on site;
  • invoicing, payments, and debt recovery;
  • communicating with you about your job, our services and your bookings;
  • marketing our services to people who have asked to hear from us or who have enquired with us, as set out below;
  • measuring and improving the performance of our website and advertising;
  • meeting legal, regulatory, health and safety, insurance and record-keeping obligations.

How we use it

We use personal information only for the purposes set out in this policy, or for purposes you would reasonably expect or that you have consented to. In practice this means we use it to contact you about your enquiry or job, to deliver and document the work you have asked for, to keep accurate business and safety records, to send service reminders or offers where permitted, and to understand which of our services and advertising are working so we can improve them. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Marketing and customer communications

We may use your contact details to send you marketing communications about our services, offers and updates — for example by email, text message, phone call or through advertising platforms. We send marketing messages where you have opted in, where you have enquired about our services and it is reasonable to expect this, or where otherwise permitted by New Zealand law (including the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007).

Every marketing message we send includes a way to opt out, or you can ask us at any time using the contact details at the end of this policy. If you opt out, we will stop sending you marketing communications, but we may still contact you about quotes, jobs and other non-marketing matters.

Lead information received from advertising platforms

We run advertising campaigns on platforms including Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Snapchat, TikTok, Google and other networks. When you submit a lead form on one of these platforms, the platform collects your details under its own privacy policy and then passes that lead information to us.

Lead information typically includes your name, phone number, email address and any answers you give to qualifying questions in the form. We use it to contact you about your enquiry, to provide quotes, and to follow up on jobs and offers. We may also use it for related marketing as described in this policy. The advertising platform is a separate controller of the information it collects on its own platform, so its handling of your data — including what it does with it before passing it to us — is governed by that platform's privacy policy. We keep lead information only as long as needed for the purposes above, and we handle it under the same protections as information collected directly from you.

Cookies, analytics and tracking

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to make it work, to understand how visitors use it, and to measure and improve our advertising. These technologies may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details, pages viewed, time on site and how you arrived at the site.

  • Essential cookies — needed for the website to function (for example, form security).
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand website usage, for example through Google Analytics.
  • Advertising and remarketing cookies — placed by advertising platforms such as Meta, Snapchat, TikTok and Google to measure campaign performance and, where permitted, to show you relevant Taylor Plumbing advertising on other sites and platforms.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most advertising platforms offer their own opt-outs and ad-preference controls. If you block cookies, parts of the website may not work as intended.

Service providers we may share data with

We share personal information with trusted service providers who help us operate our business and deliver services to you, including:

  • Website, hosting and cloud providers — who host this website and store our business data.
  • Advertising platforms — Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, Google and similar networks, for delivering and measuring our advertising.
  • Communications providers — phone, email and messaging platforms we use to contact you.
  • Customer relationship and job management software — where we record enquiries, quotes and jobs.
  • Payment and accounting providers — for invoicing and processing payments.
  • Subcontractors and suppliers — where needed to complete your job, limited to the information required.
  • Professional advisers and authorities — insurers, accountants, lawyers, and regulators or law enforcement where required by law.

We only share what is needed for the purpose, and we require our providers to protect it and use it only on our behalf. Some providers may be located outside New Zealand; where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information receives comparable protection under the Privacy Act 2020.

Data storage and security

We store personal information electronically with reputable cloud and hosting providers, and in some cases in paper records at our offices. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — including access controls, authentication and encryption in transit — to protect against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure. Access to personal information is limited to our team and service providers who need it to do their work. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as legal, tax and record-keeping requirements apply, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.

Access, correction and deletion requests

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and in some circumstances to ask us to delete it or to stop using it. You may also withdraw marketing consent at any time.

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond as soon as reasonably practicable and in any event within the timeframes required by law. In rare cases we may decline part or all of a request where the law permits or requires us to — if so, we will tell you why. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request or information, you can complain to the Office of the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
